1. Censor

A strict woman, a past trauma, a movie that speaks directly to her, and confusion between fiction and reality create a great and stylish movie experience, with a Giallo flavor to it.

Who censors the censor?

2. False Positive

Paranoia or mommy brain? It turns out, gaslighting is the answer. Great cinematography, reinforcing the main character's isolation, an almost hypnotic pacing, and a cathartic ending make it a great movie.

Is mommy brain a thing?

3. Titane

The movie is both visually challenging, and absurd in terms of its storytelling. Agathe Ruselle gives a mesmerizing, disturbing, and memorable physical performance throughout the movie.

4. Lamb

Beautiful and surreal, the movie is carried by the complex performances of Noomi Rapace and Hilmir Snær Guðnason. It is a slow-burner thriller mixed with the trappings of a family drama.

5. Last Night in Soho

This is an exhilarating and nostalgic look at 60s London, with a great soundtrack, and exciting imagery. Tones of Suspiria, and Argento in general, colors, sounds, and vibes make the movie a great cinematic experience.

Giallo vibes galore

6. Black Bear

Engaging, tense, and strange, this is probably not a full-on horror movie but it sure has its thrills. Comparisons with David Lynch are welcomed.

7. Scare Me

Aya Cash gives a gripping performance, sometimes strikingly carrying the whole thing by herself. It is a unique, fun, funny, and, yes, scary couple of hours, without a dull moment.

8. Jakob’s Wife

An entertaining comment on heteronormative relationships, misogyny, and middle-aged female rage, Jakob’s Wife turned out to be a big surprise.

A vampire dares her to be free

9. Honeydew

A demented fairy tale, with no clear moral statement, like in the old days. It is one of those movies that create a lot of tension with just a little. Unexpected and totally worth watching.

Gretel and Hansel

10. Saint Maud

Tense and extremely dark, Saint Maud is an exercise in perspective in storytelling, with an eerie and pitch-perfect soundtrack to go with. It is a slow burn but, oh, it burns!

A nice and religious young woman. Or is she?
